Without a doubt at the end of three days your family will wish they had more time, however 72 hours is a perfect amount of time to get acquainted with one of Europe’s most family friendly cities. While London is big and there is much to do, careful planning will allow your family to see the highlights and experience the fun this Olympic city has to offer. In addition, if you can wait until after the Olympics to visit the city hotel rooms will be plentiful and the prices will drop – not to mention the city will be sparkling clean!

10 Travel Tips for Jews

People often stare in amazement when they hear that my wife and I cannot imagine vacationing without our children. When our son was 8-weeks old we visited Buenos Aires and Uruguay, an excursion requiring two small planes to get between locations – one for us and one for our gear! In the intervening years we have taken a number of exciting and travel-friendly family trips made all the more pleasurable, because I streamlined the process and did the planning upfront. For example, if you’re kosher, make sure you know where the Kosher restaurants are located rather than arriving at your destination and frantically trying to find them on the Internet. You might want to email ahead for reservations. I am confident the following will ease your experience.

Where Art Thou?

Traveling has been a passion of mine since 2001 when my wife, Melissa, and I took our first trip together. For a guy from New York whose only prior vacations had been to Sesame Place in Pennsylvania, Washington, DC and Florida, three weeks in Europe were transforming!  Visiting as many major sites as we could, it didn’t take me long to realize I loved traveling. So did Melissa.

Who is Rob Merlin?

Robert Merlin is a trial lawyer in Clayton, MO, and a Virtuoso Travel Agent with The Smart Flyer, Inc., based in New York City.  Rob is an advisor to the ZBT fraternity at Washington University, a member of Shaare Emeth and was a 2009 Rubin Israel Experience participant. He is married to Melissa Marglous Merlin, an attorney with Husch Blackwell, L.L.P. He is the father of Sawyer, 4 1/2 , Lila, 16 months old. Robert and Melissa have visited over 40 countries together since 2001, 12 with Sawyer and Lila.
