Jewish Federation of St. Louis Makes
Statement About US Holocaust Museum Attack
Jewish Federation of St. Louis and the entire Jewish community are shocked and saddened by the tragic violence at the US Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, D.C. We offer our deepest sympathies to the family of security guard Stephen T. Johns. This act of hatred - more than 60 years after the Holocaust and just days after the President’s Buchenwald visit – is a painful reminder that we must continue to battle anti-Semitism and racism. In St. Louis, our own Holocaust Museum and Learning Center uses the terrible realities of the past to foster tolerance. Every year, more than 30,000 students and visitors experience the museum and hear Holocaust survivors tell their stories. This priceless community asset is a part of St. Louis' Jewish Federation.
As always, the security of our visitors and staff is of utmost importance - and we continue to remain vigilant - in collaboration with area law enforcement. We are currently implementing extra security precautions – while officials in Washington analyze and assess the U.S. Holocaust Museum attack.
