JCC Day Camps Jump Rope for Joplin!

J Day Camps took this week’s theme, COMMUNITY, to a new level. In a culmination of a summer-long effort to support those in Joplin who were tragically affected by the May tornado, the J Day Campers participated in Jump Rope for Joplin.  For the entire camp day, campers and staff rotated in and out of the project, jumping rope and collecting donations.  Organized by Alli Weissman, Director of Gymnastics Camp, campers far surpassed their goal of $500, collecting more than $1,000 for their efforts, bringing their summer total to more than $2,000.  Previously they held a car wash, lemonade stand, and Jewels for Joplin – where campers made lanyard bracelets and key chains.

“This summer has been a great learning experience for our campers.  They have been able to create events to give back to a devastated community most have never visited,” said Joey Boime, Director of Day Camps.

All proceeds will be sent to United Hebrew Congregation of Joplin for the relief efforts of their congregants.
